GMB @ Work

GMB@WORK is exclusively for GMB post-holders and is designed to be the central point where GMB Workplace Organisers can get all the necessary resources that they need to organise and represent GMB members in their workplace.

If you are not a GMB member then join GMB now

If you are a new or existing GMB member interested in becoming a:

  • Workplace Organiser;
  • Health and Safety representative or;
  • Union Learning Representative.

Then please email or phone the relevant office to indicate your interest in representing other GMB members in your workplace.

If you have logged into the site and you believe that you are currently a GMB post-holder, but are unable to access the GMB@WORK pages then please email or phone your office to update your membership details.

Once you have access you can see information on GMB's organising and campaigning in workplaces across the UK in the following sectors:

  • Care sector;
  • Education sector;
  • Engineering and Construction sector;
  • Local Government Contractors;
  • Retail sector and;
  • Security sector.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR ACCESSING GMB SHARED DRIVES

Shared drives contain a host of information which are available to GMB Offices. This removes the need to email round large documents and is a central location to file information.

The Research Publications shared drive (Res_Pubs) contains information on model agreements, Bargaining Briefs, Inflation Rate and Pay bargaining information and other useful briefings.

CHECK CONNECTIONS
To check what shared drives you are connected to, look at My Computer which is accessible from the Desktop.
· On the bottom left of your screen, Click on Start or press the Window key on your keyboard
· Select My Computer - you will see a list of all the shared drives you are mapped to.

CONNECTING TO A DRIVE
· Click on Start
· Select My Computer  then Click on Tools from the top toolbar and select "Map Network Drive"
· A window will then appear with a Drive letter already allocated
· Either search for the shared folder or enter the folder name in manually:

To search for the folder
In Folder field type in  as \\wimbledon2  and click on the Browse button then click on the + sign to the left of Wimbledon2 to see all the folders on that server and select Res_Pubs  and click on ok at the bottom of that window

To enter folder name in manually
Type the full address in the Folder field as \\wimbledon2\Res_Pubs (ensure you type in the name exactly, have no spaces and you use the underscore key)
· Ensure that "reconnect at log-on" is ticked, then select Finish 
· You should then see a window come up showing the contents of that drive.
