Employment Tribunals
Employment tribunals hear claims about matters to do with employment. These include:
- unfair dismissal
- redundancy payments and
- discrimination.
Also dealing with a range of claims relating to wages and other payments.
Should you find yourself suffering from racial or sexual harassment, disability discrimination; you may have been unfairly dismissed or had an unlawful deduction taken from your wages – your GMB union membership entitles you to help and support.
In the first instance you must always contact your local representative and raise these issues formally in writing as a grievance or if you have been dismissed, as an appeal to give your employer the opportunity to put things right. You may then have the option to pursue your claim via an Employment Tribunal. Contact your local office in regard to making a claim.
When submitting Employment Tribunal claims you must be aware that strict time limits must be adhered to, namely within three months from the date the incident took place. When a written grievance or appeal is raised the three month extension is then given to submit your ET1 form. Please note that if the time limits are exceeded, it is unlikely that applications will be accepted.
If you require any information in respect of employment law you should contact your workplace representative or organiser.
