A decision taken at GMB Congress 2006 resulted in the merger of the existing eight sections into three as follows:
Clothing & Textile Section; Construction, Timber & Allied Section; Engineering & Process Section to form the new Manufacturing Section
Commercial Services Section; Energy & Utilities Section; Food & Leisure Section to form the new Commercial Services Section
Public Services Section to remain basically unchanged.
Each section has its own National Committee to discuss and decide strategic issues affecting the industrial groups concerned, subject always to the authority of GMB Congress and the Central Executive Council (CEC). Each Sub Section is headed by a National Secretary and/or National Officer.
